Vi aggiorno brevemente sulle novità.

Poi... sto leggendo Autoboyography di Christina Lauren e mi sta piacendo da matti!
Sinceramente l'autrice dipinge un mondo parecchio lontano dal mio, il contesto infatti a volte mi risulta un po' assurdo, difficile da comprendere; tuttavia il protagonista, Tanner, è molto chiaro e coinvolgente. Nell'insieme l'opera mi ricorda John Green per stile e per tema.
La citazione che ho scelto per oggi è tratta proprio da Autoboyography.

Lo so, non è esattamente una citazione miracolosa... anzi, solleva una questione un po' spinosa: può Dio essere amore, ma amarti solo a determinate condizioni? Cosa implica tutto ciò?
Questo romanzo tocca temi alquanto ostici, in primis l'omosessualità, per poi soffermarsi anche su questioni religiose e sul rapporto religione-modernità. Insomma, un'opera ricca e complessa con uno stile leggero.
Ovviamente ve ne parlerò meglio quando lo avrò terminato, pubblicherò la recensione sia in italiano che in inglese (visto che lo sto leggendo in inglese).

Cosa pensate di questa frase? Conoscete il libro?

VICTORIA: la Storia aiuta o penalizza?

Buongiorno a tutti!

Oggi parliamo di... serie TV a tema storico.
Come forse alcuni di voi già sanno, recentemente mi sono follemente innamorata di Victoria, la serie dedicata alla celeberrima regina inglese, di cui sono già state trasmesse le prime due stagione. La terza uscirà, mi sembra, ad agosto.

La trama  è molto chiara: la vita della regina dall'incoronazione a... boh, data ancora da definirsi. Sinceramente io spero che chiudano il programma prima della morte di Albert... perché penso che non potrei sopportare di vederlo morire :((
Ma, tralasciando questo momento malinconico in cui ho dimostrato il mio amore per il Principe, vorrei analizzare con voi i vantaggi/svantaggi di una serie TV che racconta la storia di individui realmente esistiti e anche abbastanza noti.

Punto primo: un programma che sceglie di utilizzare un personaggio e uno sfondo storici, può inventare o dovrebbe cercare di seguire la realtà dei fatti, limitandosi a romanzarla un po'? Beh, direi che qui, ovviamente, dipende dal calibro e della fama del protagonista. Per qualcuno come Victoria, credo che creare troppo liberamente non porterebbe nulla di buono... insomma, si può adornare la trama principale con tutta una serie di altri personaggi e fatti secondari, di fantasia, per arricchire il tappeto narrativo, mantenendosi comunque fedeli alla vita vera dei protagonisti reali.

Posto che sono contraria all'eccesso di libertà narrativa, il fatto che gli eventi principali siano già scritti, può essere considerato uno svantaggio? Elimina la sorpresa? Secondo me, no. Sarà che io sono una che ama gli spoiler... ma, a mio parere, sapere cosa dovrà (inevitabilmente) succedere non fa altro che aumentare l'attesa e la voglia di scoprire come gli sceneggiatori metteranno in atto il determinato evento. Prendiamo per esempio la già citata morte di Albert: che ansia! Che panico! Sapere vagamente cosa accadrà, rende lo spettatore emotivo, non rovina il suo umore.

REVIEW:

I started reading A tragic kind of wonderful by chance: I loved the title and I bought it. Actually I felt in love with both the title and the cover, which looks like a piece of modern art: some spots of colors on a white canvas. 

You know, I’ve always been attracted by “chaos”… and in this book I found my perfect world.
Confusion here is everywhere in Mel’s mind.

Mel Hannigan is 16 years old and she suffers from bipolar disorder, which makes her life unpredictable.  She can’t tell anyone about her disease, she doesn’t want her friends to treat her differently, like she’s ill.

“Sometimes I wish I knew what I was going to say in time to decide not to.”

Mel is a strong girl and her main feature is her kindness: she’s always ready to help everyone around her, no matter what. Even when she’s sad or angry.  And due to her bipolar disorder, her feeling any type of emotion could become a problem: when she’s not under meds or when she lives a particular event (like a fight or a date), all her moods are magnified. Her sadness becomes depression, her happiness turns into excitement and her anger makes her a fury.
At first I found it difficult to really understand her, but after some pages I was able to empathize with her: it was wonderful, intense and quite unsettling at the same time… I got how she thought and felt, nevertheless I could see what her family was living because of her. I felt sorry for them all. 

“You're not bipolar, Mel. You have a bipolar disorder. You also have vibrant blue eyes, a wonderful personality, a tendency to undervalue yourself, and many, many other things. None of those things are you."
